LA Music Academy is a small, intensive contemporary music
education program. We were founded in 1996 by a number of
prominent LA-based players who had also had significant experience
providing practical, concentrated education to students over the
last several decades at a variety of music education institutions.
Their thought was to create a different kind of school that truly
maximizes the improvement and learning that you receive in the
shortest possible time. Their belief in this led them to create an
educational experience in which we, to this day, focus on:
- Maintaining an environment that is in our belief the best
environment for learning: a small, friendly atmosphere that
ensures personal attention and a "real world" understanding
of your strengths and weaknesses.
- Ensuring the development of "real world" playing skill by
performing everyday with professional accompanists from the
LA music scene. Some of our accompanists perform or have
performed with Ray Charles, Coolio, Sergio Mendes, Steve
Vai and many other prominent artists.
- Offering a faculty that has no peer in terms of playing skill,
practical, professional performance experience at the highest
levels in the music industry. Our names speak for themselves
both in terms of their performing ability but also their ability
to teach what they know.
- Covering a wide variety of styles with instructors and players
who know those art forms
We believe we are unique in the way we teach contemporary music
and our graduates and those who hire them consistently say that we
accomplish what we set out to do for our students. If you are serious
about your music career and want to learn in the best possible
educational environment, then spend a little more time looking around
our website and, as we say, "Get To The Music."

"I really checked a lot of
schools and as far as atmosphere
and teachers, LA Music Academy
is the best. Maybe some places
have fancier facilities, but the
thing you should have in mind
is who you are learning from. I
am learning from guys who are
working and know how the industry
works and changes these days.
They know exactly what they are
doing. The most important thing
is teachers, and for this, the
LA Music Academy is the best."

"I'm halfway through the one
year program. There are only
ten of us in the bass program,
and we're like a little family.
I'm having the time of my life
and feel like I'm getting an
education that can make me
a pro player."
