LA Music Academy Hosts "An Evening for the Station" Saturday, October 20th Celebrity Concert and Reception Benefit Pasadena's Union Station Foundation

Pasadena, CA - October 12, 2007 - An ensemble of incredible musicians will perform at the eighth annual presentation of An Evening for the Station: The Timeless Sounds of Sergio Mendes and Brazil 2007. LA Music Academy in Pasadena will host the celebrity concert and reception Saturday October 20th, beginning at 5:30pm. Proceeds benefit Union Station Foundation, the largest social service agency serving homeless people in Pasadena and the West San Gabriel Valley. Guests will enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and an intimate reception with the world-renowned musicians and actors following the concert.


Sergio Mendes headlines the evening performing classics as well as selections from his newest album. Accompanying Mendes are veteran musicians Gracinha Leporace, Dawn Bishop, Kleber Jorge, Carlos Yutaka Del Rosario, Leo Nobre, Gibi, Mike Shapiro and Krishna Booker of Brazil 2007. Adam Arkin is Master of Ceremonies.


An Evening for the Station has become a passion for everyone involved, including the musicians, the committee and the faculty and students at LA Music Academy. The intimate nature of the event, along with the dedication and year-round involvement of the performers makes this a truly unique and special evening for the guests and performers. An Evening for the Station allows performers the rare opportunity to create music in a relaxed and familiar setting. The artists are donating their time and talent, ensuring that all proceeds from the concert benefit Union Station's programs for homeless adults and families.


LA Music Academy is located at 370 S. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena, CA 91105 (three blocks south of Old Pasadena). Tickets are $250 per person. 5:30pm - Cocktails, Hors D'oeuvres and Silent Auction; 7:30 - Concert begins; Dessert and reception with the artists will follow the performance.

Union Station Foundation provides homeless men, women and families in Pasadena and the West San Gabriel Valley with the means to transform their lives so they can become productive, stable and self-supporting. They believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual and strive to provide the highest quality of services based on a foundation of respect for all people. To accomplish their mission, they operate a 56-bed adult shelter, a 50-bed family shelter, a 14-unit transitional housing facility for families, an intake and assessment center, a community food and shower program and a career development program.
